SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Erinn Miller, the Douglas County School Board member accused of embezzling $125,000 from Zephyr Cove Elementary and George Whittel High School parent groups, has been arrested again. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) investigation into other cases on the California side has led to her arrest on two counts of embezzlement, one count of money laundering, and one count of forgery, charges totaling $506,262.61.

The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office issued a filing warrant which led to Miller’s arrest just after noon on Thursday, October 22.

She is being held without bail in the Douglas County Jail until she can be extradited to the El Dorado County Jail. Once there, she will face a bail of $1,022,526.22 according to SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli.

South Tahoe Now released the contents of Miller’s Douglas County court documents on Sept. 15, the day she appeared in the Tahoe Justice Court on the school charges.

SLTPD received information from a local California-side business about a potential forgery and grand theft case against Erinn Miller. Through her business, Crystal Cove Bookkeeping (a Nevada business), Miller had several South Lake Tahoe groups and businesses as her clients.

According to the Nevada court documents we read in September, SLTPD started an investigation on Nov. 1, 2025, due to a South Lake Tahoe medical group alerting them of the suspected forgery and grand theft. The court documents state the group hired Miller’s bookkeeping business for payroll and bookkeeping services in January 2022 and allege she created or forged eight checks totaling $332,000 between April 1, 2025, and November 1, 2025 without their permission.

Since then, the amount lost by businesses and groups has grown.

Miller will most likely be transferred to South Lake Tahoe next week. Her next Tahoe Justice Court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27. It is unknown if that will still take place.

At the last Douglas County School Board meeting, several residents asked for Miller to resign. She has taken a leave of absence but cannot be fired since she is in an elected position.
