Sunday night sunset as seen from Visit Lake Tahoe camera

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – To start the week, there is a Lake Wind Advisory in place for the Lake Tahoe Basin from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph for Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake, and Prosser and Boca Reservoirs. Waves will be up to four feet on Lake Tahoe. Ridgetop gusts Sunday night are expected to be 50-60 mph, up to 80 mph Monday morning.

There is a system developing off of the California coast, giving Lake Tahoe a chance to see light rain and mountain snow for the Halloween weekend. The chance for precipitation increases from 15-30% Friday to 20-40% by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

Keep an eye on the status of the incoming weather system as we get to the end of the week, as temperatures will drop and Halloween costumes may need a raincoat or ski jacket.
