Dear South Shore Readers, I want to give a shout out to Paula Peterson, editor and publisher of SouthTahoeNOW.com.  Her article on October 31st on how to give and receive food in South Lake Tahoe was spot on for how much our community needs each other in these troubling times.

Those of us who can donate food, time or money need to step up to help our community.  Some in our community are federal employees who have been furloughed, are SNAP recipients who have been denied a resource they need to feed their families, or just need a helping hand.  The politicians have caused this crisis, but it doesn’t matter which side is to blame…there is plenty of blame to spread around.  The citizens of South Lake Tahoe who have the means need to help; if you don’t, your neighbors will suffer.

Read Paula’s article and donate to these organizations or directly to those you know need help:

  • Christmas Cheer
  • Bread and Broth
  • South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center
  • Phoenix Food Panty
