SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The El Dorado County Elections Office released another ballot count on Friday afternoon, solidifying several offices and ballot measures.

Measure U is passing 60.58% to 39.42% (55% was needed to pass), and Measure N is failing, 28.36% voting yes and a resounding no count of 71.64%.

South Lake Tahoe City Council will add two new members, David Jinkens and Keith Roberts. The two incumbents, Creegan and Friedrich, did not run for a second term. Jinken had 26.41% of the vote, Roberts 19.11%, followed by Aimi Xistra with 17.42%, Nick Speal with 16.45%, Caitlin McMahon with 10.85%, Heather Cade-Bauer 10.85%, and Marjorie Green, who dropped out of the race weeks ago, 5.76%.

Kelly Sheehan retains her trustee position on the South Tahoe Public Utility District Board, and Joel Henderson won the second open spot. Sheehan had 31.75% of the vote, Henderson followed with 23.45%, Seth Dallob earned 22.86% and Chris Cefalu 21.93%.

As a county, 110,856 of the 135,300 registered voters turned out to vote this year. That is 81.93% of those who could vote, did vote.

According to Bill O’Neill, the County’s Registrar of Voters, there were about 1,500 same-day registrations that his staff is still working through.
In addition to that, about 1,000 ballots were missing signatures or the signatures did not match, called “curing,” and the County reached out to them in case they wanted to resubmit their ballot with a valid signature. O’Neill said there could be another 2,000 ballots to be counted, plus a possible ballot or two in the mail.

The election has to be certified and to the Secretary of State by December 3.
