SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday for areas above 8,000 feet. They are calling for wet snow with accumulations up to six inches at that elevation, up to four inches between 7,500 and 8,000 feet.
Winds could gust as high as 90 mph along the highest peaks and 30 to 40 mph for Sierra communities. On Lake Tahoe, wind gusts up to 40 mph and wave heights of two to four feet are expected.
The early winter storm will bring little to no snow accumulation at lake level, according to the NWS Reno. More periods of unsettled weather is possible through the weekend and next week.
