Placerville murder suspect Bernardo Castillo was taken into custody early Friday morning in El Centro, Calif.
Castillo, 24, is accused of killing 49-year-old Silvia Castillo of Placerville and stabbing a four-year-old multiple times on Tuesday, June 13. An arrest warrant was issued immediately, and photos of the suspect and his car were distributed.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. this morning, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) was notified by El Centro Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in their jurisdiction. Officers checked the vehicle registration and learned it was the vehicle associated to Castillo. While contacting the driver of the vehicle, El Centro officers positively identified Bernardo Castillo and placed him under arrest without incident.
The Southern California city is located just north of the US border with Mexico.
EDSO detectives are en route to El Centro for further investigation.
