So, Brooke summed up Measure S pretty well today, except for NOT urging a NO
vote due to the lopsided and patently unfair allocations coming from Measure S
sales tax increases. It’s easy to read between the lines of her explanation, though.

  • West Slope gets approx. 85% of the revenue from the sales tax increase
  • Marshall Hospital receives tens of millions of dollars for improvements, upgrades, seismic retrofitting, and funds to service debt
  • Barton Hospital gets -0- (let that sink in)
  • The Tahoe side of EDC gets to pay the same .375% sales increase as the rest of the County for next to nothing in increased sales tax revenue… for 30 years!

Per Brooke’s analysis, 2029 total anticipated sales tax revenue of $13.7 million benefits West Slope $11.8 million, while Tahoe receives a paltry $1.8 million spread out between 4 Tahoe fire agencies!

Marshall engineered the ballot summary to ignore the fact that ONLY ONE hospital in EDC receives benefit, and pumps up the benefits to fire safety, leaving out the fact that West Slope fire agencies receive $4.7 million compared to $1.8 million for Tahoe fire agencies.

How much does Marshall receive in 2029? $6.4 million. How much does Barton receive? Not one penny.

Remember, we stepchildren in Tahoe pay THE SAME .375% tax increase at the cash register as West Slope folks.

Vote NO on this deceptive and unfair Measure. NO ON S!
