Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra and South Lake Tahoe Police recognize STMS students

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During the inaugural Digital Drama Awareness Week at South Tahoe Middle School, besides the daily messages for students and parents from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), there was a poster contest for those in 6th-8th grades.

Students were tasked with creating a poster that sent a message to the other students about how bullying and digital drama is wrong, and the right way to treat people. In a non-COVID world, the contest would be started off with an assembly and open to all students, not just those in Club Live, Leadership, and Art. Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) contributed the cash prizes.

During the week, the winning posters students created were featured on each digital drama story carried on South Tahoe Now.

The winners were presented their prizes Friday by SLTPD School Resource Officer Jason Nixon and Julie Nelson from Soroptimists:

1st - Chloe Waskiewicz - Won $50 from SITS
2nd - Haleigh Turner - Won $25 from SITS
3rd- Caroline Waskiewicz - Won $10 from SITS
