On June 10, 1991, the South Lake Tahoe and Meyers communities went into shock when 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted as she walked to a local school bus stop. She remained missing for 18 years, a long nightmare for her family, her friends, and the town that grew to love her, even if they didn’t know her. Then, dreams were answered on August 26, 2009 when she was discovered due to the instincts of two U.C. Berkeley Campus Officers.
