Bona Fide Books asks community to participate in survey
Submitted by Editor on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 11:23amSeveral South Shore Lake Tahoe businesses, including the Bona Fide Books publishing house, are in the process of evaluating whether to open a temporary "pop-up" bookstore in South Lake Tahoe for the coming holiday shopping season. To help evaluate the feasibility and nature of a pop-up bookstore in the community, and whether there is support for having a permanent bookstore in town, Bona Fide Books has helped develop a quick and simple online survey.

TahoeChamber.org would like to thank all those who took the time to nominate a business or individual for the 4th Annual Blue Ribbon Awards. Over the four years that the awards program has been in existence, community participation and support has increased annually by leaps and bounds. This year brought in a record amount of nominations, which resulted in over 100 businesses and individuals being nominated for the eight different award catagories.
Squaw Valley Job fair Nov. 11

Squaw Valley will host the resort’s seasonal job interview fair on Friday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Taking place in the Palisades Conference Room adjacent to the lobby of The Village at Squaw Valley, the interview fair will include interviews for a wide range of positions including snowsports instructors, ski patrol, lift operations, grooming, terrain parks, culinary services, rental services, retail, security, parking, product sales and services, and transportation.

Monday is National Boss's Day and since it is Friday you may have not seen the memo about this.
Yes there is a day for the Michael Scott's and Bill Lumbergh's of the world, though the "The Office" and "Office Space" characters are more than likely the parodied exception to today's slash and burn corporate culture rule. This holiday usually falls on Oct. 16 but is celebrated to the closest working day because of the weekend.
Trick or Treat at Street Event with Tahoe Regional Young Professionals

Every Halloween KRLT takes over a local motel, fills rooms with local businesses and non-profits, to hand out candy to the kids in a safe controlled environment. Thousands of children attend decked out as superheroes, princesses, magicians, monsters at Pine Cone Acre Motel at 735 Emerald Bay Road for 5 - 8 p.m.

Technology spurs Southwest Gas project at Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe, Reno to host Chinese Cosmos pageant
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 09/19/2011 - 5:10pmNevada will host 18 contestants from all over the world who are competing in the Miss Chinese Cosmos Semi-Finals, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism, announced today in a press release.
The event will take place in Reno and Lake Tahoe from Sept. 23-30, 2011. The contest moves around the world each year, last year taking place in Sydney, Australia. This is the first time the pageant has been held in the United States.
National Forests in California provide benefit to local economies

Outdoor recreation activities in California’s national forests contributed $2 billion dollars to local economies and helped sustain an estimated 38,000 jobs in 2010.
The U.S. Forest Service’s National Visitor Use Monitoring report released Aug. 19 shows that national forests attracted 170.8 million recreational visitors nationwide and sustained approximately 223,000 jobs in rural communities across the country.
