Public invited to view Lake Tahoe Unified School District Facilities Master Plan

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The public has two more opportunities to view the site poster boards for the draft Facilities Master Plan for Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

The posters will be available for the public to view on the below dates and times at the District Office, 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

Monday, May 6, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Tuesday, May 7, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

During these sessions, the Facilities Planning Advisory Committee and the District Office Maintenance Team will be available to answer questions and take suggestions.

"The Big Bang" history presentation at South of North Brewing

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Using extensive research and eyewitness accounts, local authors and historians David and Gayle will share “The Big Bang" on Monday, May 6 at 5 p.m. at South of North Brewing.

Join them for the free presentation as they recount the incredible, true, and bizarre story of a calculating and disgruntled gambler and his attempt to extort three million dollars from the historic Harvey’s Casino at Lake Tahoe, in August of 1980.

The Tahoe Art League is holding "Creative Art, Collage & Poetry Making" on Wednesday, May 8, from 6 pm. - 8 p.m. Learn how to easily write poetry with open-ended scaffolds and explore your vision and creativity with collage and watercolor painting. Bring something to write on and snacks or drinks to share. $25 donation

Sign ups open for businesses and students interested in South Lake Tahoe Job Fair

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Learning Haven (TLH) is hosting its second Student Summer Job Fair on Wednesday, May 8 from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, 1100 Lyons Ave, South Lake Tahoe. It will be a free one-stop shopping event in which you can leave with a summer job!

Over 25 local businesses will be there, all looking for summer employees. TLH will help students ages 15-18 create a simple resume, complete applications, interview and complete your work permit. In 2.5 hours, students can leave with their perfect summer job.

Valhalla Tahoe Living History Program – “The Reno Cure”

24th Annual Snapshot Day

Be a citizen scientist for the day!
Snapshot Day is an annual water quality monitoring event held each May. Groups of volunteers fan out across the Truckee River Watershed to take samples from creeks, streams, and lakes—including Lake Tahoe—to capture a snapshot of Tahoe’s water quality at a moment in time.

Somatic Breathwork and Immersive Sound Bath for First Responders

May 14, 2024 - 5:30pm

First responders are invited to join others for somatic breathwork and an immersive sound bath on Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Connect with your breath, get out of your mind, and into your body with experienced facilitator, Randy Gates. He is a breathwork facilitator and wellness educator, and a professional firefighter with Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue in Washoe County. In addition, he is a member of their peer support team and health and wellness committee. He has a master’s degree in education.

Tahoe Arts Project to hold annual Bert’s Spaghetti Night

The Tahoe Arts Project (TAP) is holding its annual Bert’s Spaghetti Night on May 15, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join TAP for dinner and support performing arts education in the community.

The cost is $15 per person and includes Spaghetti, Caesar salad, garlic bread, soda, and coffee. There will also be a bake sale and wine available for a donation.
