Reno religious leader Zed to open US Senate with prayer for the second time on July 30

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who read the invocation (opening-prayer) in the United States (US) Senate in Washington DC on July 12, 2007; which was protested and disrupted; has been scheduled to deliver the opening-prayer again in the Senate on July 30.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is bringing back its popular summer speaker series, Tahoe History Talks on the Beach, on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting June 25.

The free talks are held at Lakeview Commons on the west side steps. Lakeview Commons is located at the corner of US50 and Lakeview Ave. There is plenty of free parking.

Meyers Mountain Market is held every Wednesday at Tahoe Paradise Park from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through September 11, 2024.

The primary goal of our market is to promote a sense of community and a healthy way of life for Meyers residents and South Lake Tahoe locals alike. Of course, Tahoe visitors are welcome to join in on the fun! We are dedicated to bringing farmers right to your table, so we stay open rain or shine. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – This year marks the 37th anniversary of the Great Gatsby Festival, a multi-day living history and interpretive festival held at the Tallac Historic Site each year. The Great Gatsby Festival is a living history event, celebrating the life and times of the Prohibition Era.

The event was temporarily paused from 2020 - 2022 and was revived in 2023, through a collaborative partnership between the Great Basin Institute, Valhalla Tahoe, and the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

Hand and Foot Tournament at Valhalla to raise funds for kids in Kenya

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The community is invited to come together for a fun evening on Hand and Foot playing, music and dancing to the sounds of the 1960s, and lots of laughs, all to raise funds for children in Kenya. Join in the efforts to nourish minds, one plate at a time at Valhalla Tahoe on August 2. 1960s music and dancing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Hand and Foot card game tournament from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Edible Garden Tour in Truckee

August 3, 2024 - 9:00am

Slow Food Lake Tahoe is once again hosting a tour of beautiful high Sierra food gardens in Truckee! They will be visiting gardens of all shapes and sizes from a 4-season grow dome to a single-family backyard veggie garden. The tour begins in a Truckee neighborhood and then proceeds, caravan style, to a variety of home gardens and ends at the Slow Food Gardens in the Truckee River Regional Park for light refreshments.

Unity at the Lake welcomes Donna Apidone as speaker

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Unity at the Lake is welcoming Donna Apidone as their guest presenter on Sunday, August 4 at 10 a.m. Donna is a former "Morning Edition" and “CapRadio Reads” host on NPR, and since leaving the radio network, she has been teaching and writing.

Donna teaches TransForMission, a course all about finding Purpose in life, at Sacramento State University and congregations throughout the region. The course is based on her book, also titled TransForMission.
