Meyers Business Group hosts a Community Identity session

The Meyers Business Group will host a Community Identity session to gather input on the next steps in land use planning and community design standards. The meeting will be held at the Lake Valley Fire Station, 2211 Keetak St., Meyers, from 6:30-8:30pm. Open to the public.

"The Meyers Community imagined what the future might look like and outlined a general vision in the original Meyers Community Plan. Current efforts are underway to “breathe life” into that Community Plan so that the lifestyle goals and land use improvements can be realized. Meyers residents and community leaders are invited to attend a short “Community Identity” session on May 30th to help guide and enhance the Meyers Community Identity as a framework for the next steps in land use planning including establishing community design standards. The session will be informal, fun and engaging. We are asking all participate for the two short hours.

The term "community identity" means different things to different people. Community identity can be broadly defined as a community of interest or an emotional attachment or sense of belonging to a geographic area. Residents’ concerns with community identity can range from simple recognition of their geographic area to community participation (representation and access) to community decision making (service levels, development control). Community identities are often anchored in tangible environmental assets or characteristics and events of a community, and have the potential to serve as visions for land use planning processes. Please plan to join your fellow Meyers community members in clarifying the Meyers Community Identity as the next step in creating the future for Meyers.

The session will be held at the Lake Valley Fire Station modular at 2211 Keetak Street 6:30pm - 8:30pm May 30th. We appreciate your assistance in helping shape our community's future."
