Tahoe Douglas, East Fork firefighters make significant holiday contributions

Members of the Tahoe Douglas Firefighter's Association I.A.F.F. Local 2441, left, and the East Fork Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 3726, right, presented their donations to Kathy Thompson, the managing director of the Carson Valley Community Food Closet in Gardnerville, Nev., on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011. The Tahoe Douglas Firefighter's Association donated $1500 worth of gifts to three local families, a $500 check and 200 pounds of food to the food closet and the East Fork Professional Firefighters donated 14 complete holiday family dinners and 600 pounds of food to the food closet.

Approximately 2 to 3.5 million sports-related concussions occur annually in the United States, of which 60,000 are sustained by high school athletes.
