SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Dr. Barry Keil, a member of the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge, was awarded the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest level of achievement awarded by Moose International. He was recognized at a ceremony held on June 3 at Moose International Headquarters, located just west of Chicago in Mooseheart, Illinois. There were also 117 additional Moose members from the United States, Canada, and England who received the Pilgrim Degree. Moose Pilgrims from all three nations gathered at Mooseheart to attend the celebration.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - What did you do on your summer vacation? If riding your bike from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. wasn't on your list it will be tough to top!

Thirty young men from The Ability Experience, the philanthropy arm of Phi Kappa Phi fraternity, left San Francisco five days ago, and have been cycling while fundraising and meeting people along the way since. They'll be on the road for 63 days.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - - Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA), in conjunction with The Divided Sky, is hosting the 11th annual Tahoe Mountain Bike Festival on Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25.

The weekend-long event will kick off with a Demo Day at Corral Trail on Saturday, June 24. Riders will have the chance to try a range of bikes from participating brands including Kona, Pivot, Rocky Mountain, and Specialized, and enjoy exclusive shuttles providing regular access to Corral Trail.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Low water levels at Lake Tahoe the last two years caused the closure of the boat ramp at El Dorado Beach by this time of year, but the City of South Lake Tahoe announced they will expand its hours starting Friday, June 16.

The ramp will be open Fridays through Mondays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it will be closed on July 4.

Fees for the boat ramp are collected on-site and can be paid via debit or credit card. The 2023 summer boat ramp fees are as follows:

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a $1 billion spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

The total recommended budget for all governmental funds for Fiscal Year 2023-24 is $1.01 billion, which is $25.7 million (three percent) more than last year’s budget of $986.8 million. These totals reflect all governmental funds, including special revenue funds. They exclude special districts and proprietary funds.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Douglas County’s Emergency Management Director Kara Easton was officially appointed at the Board of County Commissioner’s meeting on June 15, 2023. Although Easton started her employment with Douglas County on May 8, the County was still under contract for Emergency Management services with East Fork Fire District through June 30, 2023. She assumes her official position on July 1, 2023.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A proposed new "achievable" workforce housing project called Alpine Estates is being planned for South Lake Tahoe adjacent to The Crossing at Tahoe Valley. The developer is Alpine Corp. and the planner is Exline & Company.

There will be a public meeting to unveil the project on June 28, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. held in the City of South Lake Tahoe Council Chamber.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band are heading to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Friday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band is a renowned musical group led by the legendary drummer Ringo Starr. Formed in 1989, the band features a rotating lineup of accomplished musicians from various backgrounds, each bringing their unique talent to the stage. On Aug. 3, 1992, Ringo and his All Starr Band played at the Harveys Outdoor Amphitheater, the venue's name at the time.

STATELINE, Nev. – Restaurateur, television star, and philanthropist Lisa Vanderpump is set to bring her signature, stunning, and innovative design aesthetic to Northern Nevada with the opening of Wolf by Vanderpump at Harveys Lake Tahoe. The restaurant is Vanderpump’s first concept in Lake Tahoe and is expected to open this winter.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There was a celebration held recently for this year's retirees from the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD). The party was hosted by the Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation and the LTUSD District Office.

"LTUSD wishes to express its sincere gratitude for this year's retirees and their many years of service to the children and families of our community," the District said.

The ten retirees have a total of 256 years of collective service in education:

Janice Shanks - 40 years of service
Kim Stephenson - 32 years of service

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Neil Young brings his Coastal Tour 2023 to Lake Tahoe with special guest Chris Pierce. They will be performing on the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena stage at Harveys Lake Tahoe on July 24 at 7:30 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Friends of the Library are showcasing several Lake Tahoe authors at the Local Authors' Fair on Tuesday, June 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Library.

The authors will have tables set up either inside or outside the library (weather permitting). Visit the tables, visit the authors, browse, and discover new books. Several authors will also have short readings. Books will be available to purchase and the event is open to the public.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) and Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) have joined forces and developed a new chipping program for residents in South Lake Tahoe and Meyers.

Requests are now being taken through an online portal that can be accessed on both the SLTFR and LVFPD websites at South Lake Tahoe or Lake Valley. Links can also be found on both of the agencies' Facebook pages.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Leucanthemum × superbum, better known as the Shasta daisy, is a very popular plant at Lake Tahoe. It originated as a hybrid produced in 1890 by the American horticulturist Luther Burbank from a number of daisies. While the intergenetic crosses and multiple hybrids used to create the Shasta Daisy can be interesting to some, its hearty white flowers and relatively low maintenance may be more important to the Tahoe gardener.

If you thought a Shasta daisy was all you had to ask for at the nursery, you are wrong. There are so many varieties (or cultivars).

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. - An Incline Village man was arrested by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) Tuesday on several charges including two counts of Sexual Assault, one count of Attempted Murder, and two counts of False Imprisonment.
