Trudy Greenough 1932 - 2017

Like the sunshine on a summer day Trudy's smile and child like curiosity will be greatly missed world round as she stayed connected with every continent. Born in Modesto, Ca. to Orville and Tillie Harding.

Trudy grew up on a dairy farm where she learned to ride horses and care for animals. She graduated high school in Oakdale, Ca. and went on to attend San Jose State where she received a degree in teaching. She met the love of her life, Jim Greenough in 1954 while dining at the lunch counter next door to the laundry where she worked in South Lake Tahoe. After only three dates and three months later they married in December 1954.

They moved to Kentfield, Ca where she taught for one year and had their first daughter, Gail. In 1956, Trudy and Jim moved to South Lake and later had two more daughters Jamie and Holly.

Trudy began teaching for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District where she taught for 36 years mostly in second grade. After she retired in 1990 she continued to substitute for the district for 17 years. Trudy and Jim then moved to San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico where they lived part-time for 17 years. While in San Jose Del Cabo she taught English at a small school and was active in various civic groups.

Trudy never drove a car and never sat idle, she could be seen most days walking her dog to and from Bijou school. She was an amazing artist and wrote children's books. She loved her gym class and highly respected her coach, but not so much the planks. When her love of 56 years passed she became very involved in the Widowers of Lake Tahoe, the friendships she made and camaraderie gave her renewed purpose and much joy!

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Tillie Harding, brothers, Bobby and David, husband James Greenough. She is survived by daughters Gail Hicks, Jamie Greenough, Holly Greenough (Thane McCall), grandchildren Jonathan Hicks, Nicole Hicks, Chase Hart, and Tanner Hart and several cousins friends and her beloved dog Pistol.
