Confront Human Trafficking

Event Date:
March 14, 2016 - 6:00pm

According to the California Department of Justice, Human Trafficking is a $32 billion a year global enterprise and the fastest growing criminal industry. It is a form of modern day slavery that profits from the exploitation of our most vulnerable populations. California's Attorney General Kamala Harris is focused on combating the pervasive issue of human trafficking in California and has made it one of her top priorities.

The Lake Tahoe Unified School District, in conjunction with Partners Against the Trafficking of Humans (P.A.T.H), will be hosting a free 90 minute presentation by Three Strands Global, a Northern California based non-profit committed to seeing a world free of human trafficking, on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 6:00 pm. This presentation will be held at South Tahoe Middle School's Multi-Purpose Room, 2940 Lake Tahoe Blvd. South Tahoe High School administration encourages parents and guardians to attend this program to familiarize themselves with this subject matter and what will be presented to students.

Three Strands Global will be presenting their Break Free Education program during the week of March 14-18 to all 9th graders at South Tahoe High School. This program raises awareness about human trafficking and offers a free, onsite education program designed to help students understand and recognize human trafficking to crease a generation less susceptible to victimization.

Light refreshments will be served.
