Keep Tahoe Blue holding Pipe Keeper introductory training

Event Date:
April 11, 2017 - 4:00pm

Pipe Keepers is a citizen science program to address the threat of stormwater pollution entering Lake Tahoe. Runoff from rain storms and snowmelt is the largest source of pollution that degrades Lake clarity. League staff will train you to survey local neighborhoods and collect stormwater samples during rain and snowmelt events.

The first step is to join a group Pipe Keeper Intro Training on how to be a Watershed Watcher and monitor neighborhoods for trash and pollution entering storm drains. The next South Lake Tahoe training will be held on April 11 at 4:00 p.m. at the League to Save Lake Tahoe office at 2608 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Trained Watershed Watchers can then adopt a pipe and receive an At Your Pipe Training from League staff to become a Pipe Keeper or Pipe Assistant and learn how to collect stormwater samples. The data from these samples helps the League identify sources of stormwater pollution entering Lake Tahoe.
