Reno Writers Read 'Tahoe Blues' at Sundance Books

Event Date:
June 20, 2012 - 6:30pm

On Wed. June 20, Sundance Books in Reno will host a reading for “Tahoe Blues: Short Lit on Life at the Lake” at 101 California Street, 6:30 p.m.. The event is free and open to the public.

“Tahoe Blues” is a collection of flash fiction and microessays by 56 writers from Tahoe, Reno and beyond who have this in common: a connection to Lake Tahoe and a tale to tell in no more than 500 words. Topics range from the environment to ghost stories, even futuristic pieces, and, of course, bears. “There is something for everyone. That’s the beauty of an anthology,” says Bona Fide Books publisher Kim Wyatt, who edited the one-of-a-kind collection. The book is organized by shades of blue, indicating depth, theme and other intangibles, says Wyatt, who received hundreds of submissions.

Featured readers include Reno writers Joan Atkinson, Margaret Garcia, Mark Maynard, and Alison Bender. The book will be available for purchase and signing. For more information about “Tahoe Blues,” go to www.bonafidebooks.com.

Bona Fide Books is a small press in South Lake Tahoe that seeks to connect writers with their readers and help build literary community in the Sierra.
