Tahoe Baikal Institute Friendraiser Dinner June 29

Event Date:
June 29, 2012 - 6:00pm

The annual Tahoe Baikal Institute (TBI) Friendraiser Gala will be held Friday, June 29, at 6 PM at the top of the tram at Heavenly Mountain Resort (Heavenly Valley).

“This is a classic Tahoe gala event that features good food, great music and dancing, an informative presentation, and highlights our TBI environmental exchange participants from Russia, Mongolia and the U.S.," said Sarah Buck, program director of the non-profit TBI. "There will be long-time Tahoe activists, educators and some of the most interesting people you would want to meet at the dinner."

The 16 international participants of the 22nd Summer Environmental Exchange (SEE), representing undergraduate and post-graduate university research programs and professions in their respective countries, headline an evening that includes a tram ride to Lake View Lodge at the top of Heavenly and the presentation of the 2012 Dwight Steele Award, Lake Tahoe’s top environmental prize. Tickets to the event, available in advance, are $65 and include the tram ride to the Lake View Lodge.

The SEE participants, selected in a competitive process, spend four weeks at Lake Tahoe doing scientific research, policy and cultural activities, then spend a week in the Mongolian watershed before working for four weeks at Lake Baikal, the world’s largest lake located in Siberia, Russia.

TBI friends attending the event should be at the tram on the California Base Lodge of Heavenly Mountain Resort by 5:15 PM. Ticket information is available at 530.542.5599 or gala@tahoebaikal.org.
