Op/Ed: Why you should vote for Kenny Curtzwiler, Supervisor District 5

As a past twenty plus year resident of South Lake Tahoe I feel moved to write this letter to let people know how I feel. I am probably known by name or reputation to quite a few residents. As the founder of The Children's Memorial I worked with many individuals, organizations, businesses etc. to celebrate and remember the lives of children who have died over the years.

My son Rory Hrbacek and his two friends, Sandy Haynes and Casey Wells, were killed on Pioneer Trail February 2, 1991. Does that ring a bell? I thought I was pretty well acquainted with everyone in the City.....until I found Kenny Curtzwiler or should I say Kenny found me! During 2013 Kenny and I and a wonderful committee worked tirelessly to have a new tree built at the Memorial site and dedicated on August 9, 2013. Little did I know that this man, a father who had lost two children, could accomplish everything he set out to do; everything I hoped to do...and so much more. Sometimes from behind the scenes he worked day and night to make a dream of mine become a reality. He was never hesitant to speak up for what he believed and what we wanted, sometimes to the chagrin of others.

He is now running as a candidate for El Dorado County District 5 Supervisor. He is well known in this fine community. He will be the first to admit that some people have heard about him but not always in the best light. I’ve been encouraging him to stand up tall, speak from his heart, and get the word out that if you want to see changes made in El Dorado County he is the candidate to vote for. You may wonder why I am even saying all of this. I moved away from South Lake Tahoe in 2001 although my husband and I come up every summer for at least a month. Well, I can tell you why. This man can be trusted. This man does what he sets out to do ALWAYS. This man is not intimidated by negative comments or actions of others. If I could, I would vote for him. I would go door-to-door singing his praises. I would hand out flyers. That is how much I think of this man. Put him in office, then you will learn first hand like I did that this man, Kenny Curtzwiler, can be trusted to do the job he says he will do. He is listening now to what you want done. Tell him loud and clear. After he is elected, continue to communicate your desires. He will listen. He will work for you. November 4 is right around the corner. Tell your friends who you are going to vote for. Encourage them to do the same. Enough said. He is your man. Your next County Supervisor.
