Matt Marhefka Benefit

Event Date:
November 1, 2014 - 1:00pm

On August 26, 2014, South Lake Tahoe resident Matthew Marhefka was in a serious dirt bike accident and suffered a broken neck which resulted in his being paralyzed from the neck down.

He recently had neck surgery and the results were successful. His spine is now stable but due to the severe spinal cord injury he remains paralyzed from the neck down. According to family friends, the doctors have hope that he could possibly regain feeling and or movement to his hands and arms.

He is currently a resident at Renown Regional Hospital in Reno, NV. His Mother Sussie and father Kent have been by his side since the accident. To help the family with Matt's recovery and refitting of their home, two fundraising efforts have begun.

On November 1, at Classic Cue in South Lake Tahoe, there will be a fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with live music and a raffle of great items donated by local businesses. Classic Cue is donating a portion of sales for the day. Those, and all other funds raised will go directly to the Matthew Marhefka Trust. Families are invited.

There is also a fund raising effort on GoFundMe. People can log on and donate online.
