Op/Ed: Why you should vote for Kenny Curtzwiler

Kenny Curtzwiler – www.voteforkenny.com

I have lived, worked and enjoyed South Lake Tahoe as a resident since 1977 when I came here for a vacation and stayed on as so many have. What makes me qualified for this position?

Commitment. I have been married for 33 years, raised three children, owned a Tree Service and Roofing Company for 33 years and served for 20 years in the Nevada Army National Guard, retiring as an officer with the rank of Major. I will not go along with the status quo of cronyism and favoritism that has stifled our local economy in El Dorado County District 5.

Accountability. For 18 years I have written an article under my pen name “Tahoe Skibum” reporting news, events and being the voice of the community. I have advocated for our government to be open, and accountable to those that they serve. To often our elected officials have forgotten who they work for.

Involvement. I am very active in our community both personally and professionally. Over the years my company has provided labor, monetary donations and services to the many local community fundraisers and events. I will roll up my sleeves to do the job rather than relying on the herd of consultants and useless studies that keep trying to reinvent the wheel and have cost our City and County millions of dollars.

Endorsements. I do not accept any endorsements nor money from special interest groups. I will go into office with a clear conscience and not beholden to anyone except the community. I urge the public to follow the money when it comes to campaign contributions ($1500.00) from the Red Hawk Casino to other candidates and endorsements from Cal Fire which are two of our biggest issues up here when it comes to the local economy and special interest taxes.

To the People of the City Of South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, Pollock Pines, Strawberry, Tahoma and Echo Summit, I am asking for your vote of confidence, trust and accountability in seeking the position of Supervisor District V in El Dorado County.
