CARSON CITY, NV – November 2022 - Are visions of snowflakes, bonbons, and sugarplum fairies dancing in your head? Then bring your family to Nevada Dance Company’s 33rd Annual Nutcracker Ballet this Thanksgiving weekend. This Northern Nevada holiday favorite will include four magical performances with professional dancers as well as local dancers running November 25th through November 27th.
Professional dancers from Sacramento Ballet will inspire audiences with their renditions of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. Jonathon Dummar, a local dancer turned professional, will grace the stage as the Snow King. Kelsey Gerber will be featured as the Chinese Soloist and Gretchen Lewall will demonstrate a crowd-pleasing performance as the Arabian soloist. And don’t forget the audience favorite, the Russian dance will feature Armen Haggopian and Company. With professional dancers from national and international companies, the Nutcracker is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
Nevada Dance Company’s vision is to promote the art of dance and sense of community through opportunities for area youth to participate in performances alongside professional dancers. This year the Nutcracker is accompanied by 10 professionals & 70 young dancers from Douglas County, Carson City, Reno, and Lake Tahoe areas. “The Nutcracker has become a staple for Northern Nevada to welcome in the holiday season. We are pleased to bring our own professional experience to this production and see it continue to grow & inspire every year” says artistic directors Erica & Oliver Adams.
Nevada Dance Company is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated promoting the art of dance by providing opportunities for the community’s youth to participate in performances alongside professional dancers nationally and internationally.
