Update 12:22PM: A small brush fire on Cold Creek Trail in South Lake Tahoe is contained and burned about one-quarter of an acre, reports U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Cheva Heck. Fire personnel from Lake Valley Fire Protection District and South Lake Tahoe and U.S. Forest Service brought the fire to containment. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Heck said. Initial reports that came in said the fire started as a backyard burn pile.

Missing Woman Michaela Vandenberg located

UPDATE 11:51AM: Michaela Vandenberg, who had been reported missing on the morning of May 15, was found unharmed on the evening of May 15. South Lake Tahoe Police Department utilized available resources to locate the woman, according to the city's website.

On Saturday a fast-moving weather front moved into the Lake Tahoe area, creating blizzard-like conditions. The storm caught visiting San Diego resident Robert Barber by surprise. He had gone for a walk into the woods off Kiowa Street in South Lake Tahoe and at around 2 p.m. as the storm intensified, he became disoriented due to almost zero visibility.

Fourth Victim of Carson City IHOP Shooting Dies

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirms that a fourth victim of today’s tragic shooting at the IHOP restaurant located in south Carson City has died. The victim was a female member of the Nevada National Guard, had been flown to Renown Medical Center and had undergone surgery. To date, four victims have died (3 Nevada National Guard members and one civilian); the shooter has also died.
