LTCC to cancel outside use of facilities and implements policies to limit COVID-19 spread

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is committed to helping mitigate the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to take measures to keep staff and students safe. With that in mind, effective immediately LTCC is canceling all community events and outside group meetings planned for on campus to help reduce the chance of exposure and spread. Furthermore, LTCC is canceling all non-essential travel for LTCC employees. These are measures designed to reduce (but not eliminate) the risk of exponential community spread of COVID-19. These measures will be in effect until further notice.

Public invited to City of South Lake Tahoe art gallery opening with Tahoe Arts Alliance

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, December 2 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe.

The free art reception is open to the public and will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials, including this quarter's artist, Regine Bandel. Bandel will be presenting her watercolor landscapes and will also be speaking at the event.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, March 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall.

This quarter’s artist will be Yvonne McGrath presenting her Fantasy Flowers Series. She will be speaking at the event.

The art reception will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials. All are welcome to attend. The event is free of charge.

Community art reception at Lake Tahoe Airport

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for the second art gallery reception on Monday, October 23 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Airport Road.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance connects artists, businesses and organizations on the South Shore, and the City’s lobby serves as a blank canvas to display local artists. The art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

The City Art Gallery reception will include a meet and greet with displaying artists and city officials. All are welcome to attend.

Celebrate May Day with Art Reception at Bona Fide Books

Bona Fide Books will host an art reception for plein air painter Claudia A. Garza on Fri., May 1, 6:30-8:30 pm at its shop in Meyers. This event is free and open to the public.

Raised in Chicago, Garza is a longtime art lover who began studying with Phyllis Shafer and Dave Russo at Lake Tahoe Community College when she moved to South Lake Tahoe in 2004.

An Artist Shows “What Remains” at Bona Fide HQ May 5

On Sat. May 5, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. Bona Fide Books will host an art reception for local photographer and writer Stacy Hicks, featuring her collection “What Remains.” Free and open to the public, the exhibit will feature 16 black and white images. Refreshments will be served.

Hicks, who lives in Strawberry, CA with her son, says that her photographs reveal the things that people often don’t see, and this is what she finds most interesting in her subjects. She favors black and white film, because “It’s more honest.”
