Leave No Trace e-Tour at the SLT Branch Library

The South Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library will host the Leave No Trace e-Tour informational workshop on Saturday, October 15 from 1:00PM to 2:30PM.

The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics will present an Awareness Workshop in which participants will learn how to enjoy outdoor pursuits while ensuring a sustainable future. Presenters are Mark Ardagna and Tara McCarthy.

'Great ShakeOut' public earthquake drill registration begins

All California and Nevada residents, businesses, schools and organizations are urged to register now to be part of the world’s largest public earthquake drill - “The Great ShakeOut.” The University of Nevada, Reno’s Seismology Laboratory is again teaming Nevada up with California and new partners Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and Guam to build awareness and get residents to practice how to respond in an earthquake.

South Shore Lake Tahoe local Sid Loomis continues her work with the Undersea Voyager Project in Catalina on September 17. The 16-year-old was part of the original crew that brought a submersible to Lake Tahoe in May of 2009 to study Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf, as well as projects in Catalina and Bodega Bay in 2010.
On Saturday, Sept. 17 team leader Scott Cassell will scuba dive from Catalina to Cabrillo Aquarium near Long Beach for a study on sharks.

Tahoe Fund partners with Heavenly, Northstar

The nonprofit Tahoe Fund partnership with Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, called the "Ski Conservation Fund", will raise an estimated $75,000 annually for the nonprofit Fund to support environmental improvement projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin.
