Heavenly Village to celebrate Labor Day with rides, concerts and 5k run

Labor Day Lake Tahoe at the Heavenly Village will be a three day long celebration with a full weekend of family-friendly entertainment including a Classic Car Show & Shine, Midway Rides, Plein Air Artists, Caricature Artists, Balloon Art, Jugglers, Fortune Teller, Face Painter, Live Music and a 5K Run.

Two stages will also be set up for music all three days.

Ribbon cutting ceremony welcomes Chariot to the community

Chariot, the new microtransit service in South Lake Tahoe, was officially welcomed to the community Tuesday during a Tahoe Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony with representatives from the League to Save Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, the City of South Lake Tahoe and chamber members.

BlueGo buses will have limited operations on Monday due to storm

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) has announced their buses in South Lake Tahoe will be on limited operations Monday, January 23 as the most recent storm makes its way out of the area.

South Lake Tahoe has experienced back-to-back major storms that left the roads narrow and difficult to negotiate safely.

Free bus rides in South Lake Tahoe Christmas Eve to New Years Day

Rides on BlueGo along bus routes 50 and 53 in South Lake Tahoe will be free for all riders from December 24, 2016 to January 1, 2017. Leave your cars parked and get through town during the busy holiday period on convenient and comfortable buses.

Route 50 travels from the Y, past Barton Hospital, Al Tahoe, Safeway, Stateline and Kingsubry (along Highway 50). Route can be found here. It runs from 5:15 a.m. to 11:04 p.m.

Free bus rides all weekend long in South Lake Tahoe

Weekend free bus rides on Blue Go routes 50 and 51 will wrap up over the Labor Day weekend (September 3-5).

Leave the holiday driving to someone else, and give your wallet a break while doing so.

Tahoe Transportation District has been giving the free rides on the two main routes to have fewer cars on the roads which leads to better air quality and less congestion.

Blue Go out, TTD in, as operations change July 1

The Tahoe Transportation District will assume daily operations of the bus transit system in South Lake Tahoe beginning July 1, and along with that change is a new name. Blue Go is out, and TTD is in.

42 buses make up the local system which have more than 800,000 trips annually on their routes which cover both sides of the state line including commuter bus service from the lake to Carson City and the Carson Valley.

Free bus rides on Blue Go routes 50 and 53 December 19-January 3

The Blue Go buses that run along the two main routes through South Lake Tahoe will be free from December 19 through January 3.

Routes 50 and 53 will be free for all riders. All other routes will operate under normal fares.

The insurance company Odella released their list of the forty best and forty worst cities to live in for commuting to and from work in the state of California. Those of us that live in South Lake Tahoe know why the community was named the tenth best with an average commute of 17.8 minutes.

South Lake Tahoe Blue Go Buses to Feature Local 5th Graders' Artwork

Blue Go buses in South Lake Tahoe will soon be adorned with artwork created by students from Irene Kaelin's 5th grade class at Tahoe Valley Elementary. The Tahoe Transportation District is donating the art space on buses to raise awareness against animal cruelty ad the importance of Spay-Neuter and Vaccinations for your pets.

"Art for Animals" plans on helping spread the message of the Lake Tahoe Humane Society.

Free Bus Rides in South Lake Tahoe Until January 5

Passengers will be riding Blue GO buses along Highway 50 for free through January 5. Routes 50 and 53 run from the "Y" to the Kahle Community Center from 5 am to 11 pm.

Tahoe Transportation District is offering the free rides to keep cars off the road during the higher traffic holiday season and to show riders how they can help the South Lake Tahoe air quality and to see how convenient, comfortable and affordable the bus system is.
