The South Lake Tahoe branch of the Sierra Central Credit Union was robbed on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m.

At that time, a man wearing a black pinstriped suit walked into the bank and demanded money. He is described as a white male adult with dark complexion and he had a fake beard.

The bank is located in the shopping area at the corner of Ski Run Boulevard and Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

No other details are available at this time. The South Lake Tahoe Police department will be releasing more information when available.

In their 77th year of providing scouting opportunities to boys in the Carson City and Carson Valley area, Boy Scout Troop 33 is hosting their 4th annual Send A Scout to Camp Car and Truck Show on Saturday, August 12 at Fuji Park in Carson City from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Participants can either pre-register or sign up the day of the event. Cost is $40. Each participant will get a T-shirt, one lunch meal ticket, and a dash plaque.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) is still looking for one suspect in the alleged assault, kidnapping and robbery of a man in Gardnerville on December 14, 2016.

The adult male victim contacted DCSO and reported that two people had violently attacked him in a home in the 1500 block of Gilman Avenue, held him at gunpoint, and then drove him to a bank where he was forced to remove an undisclosed amount of cash. They later released the victim.

Investigators had determined that Stacy Conti-Salway, 35, and Francisco “Frankie” Perez, 28, are responsible for the crime.

South Lake Tahoe has a new credit union in town. Sierra Central Credit Union has opened their 17th Northern California branch behind the Red Hut Cafe near the corner of Ski Run Blvd and Highway 50. Donned in costumes, but without the protection of wet suits, Special Olympics athletes and their supporters will jump into icy waters on March 23 for the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Northern Nevada and California.
