Autopsy provides no new details in local woman's death; investigation continues

Investigators have no new leads in the case of a South Lake Tahoe woman whose remains were found in southern Washington state in early October. The cause of death remains undetermined after an autopsy was performed.
In July, 54-year-old Marie Hanson traveled with a neighbor to the Rainbow Gathering, a countercultural event emphasizing peace and love. She was last seen on July 7, then disappeared, leaving all her personal effects behind.

November election has 12 candidates, one ballot measure

Amid voting for favorite websites, blogs, restaurants, American Idol contestants and more, residents of South Lake Tahoe have the opportunity to vote in an actual public election. Elections for the Lake Tahoe Community College board, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District board, the South Tahoe Public Utility District board and a ballot measure regarding recreation funds will all be decided by voters on Nov. 8.

Come enjoy fine wines, great beer, Tahoe’s best hors d’oeuvres, desserts, classical guitar, and an impressive silent auction at South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center’s 12th Annual Sunset Gala on Sept. 17, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm. This year’s event will be held where Lake Tahoe meets the beautiful beaches of Bali at Dr. Sean Degnan’s fabulous lakefront home. The home’s Bali design has become a central theme for the Gala as the event will feature local fire dancers, tropical mixed drinks and a Most Fabulous Flip Flops contest.
