It is time for Tahoe to have a new representative in Congress. Tom McClintock has represented our region in congress since 2009. During that time he has not promoted our interests.

1. He never moved into our district. He continues to live in a gated community in Elk Grove. Is our district not nice enough for him to live in? After all, we are paying his salary.

2. He has not had a town hall in the Lake Tahoe District during the past 4 years.

3. His votes are not supportive of our local needs. His votes that do not represent our community are represented by the following votes:

All eyes will be on South Lake Tahoe this May as top women and men cyclists from around the world race through the mountains during the annual Amgen Tour of California (TOC).

The top cycling teams from the U.S., Switzerland, Germany and Belgium are now confirmed to race the 645 miles of Amgen for men, including BMC Racing Team ,Team Sky, Bora–Hansgrohe and Team Katusha–Alpecin.

Good news for South Lake Tahoe as the Amgen Tour of California has announced their 2018 race schedule. A favored site for the women’s race, South Lake Tahoe will once again host the men for the Stage 6 finish and welcome back the women for the fourth year in a row on May 18. 2018.

AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, made the announcement Thursday.

Katie Hall, the cyclist who won Amgen Stage 2 in South Lake Tahoe. retained the leader jersey after Stage 3 on Saturday which took racers 73.3 miles from Elk Grove to Sacramento. Hall, who races for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team, placed 17 in Stage 3.

The winner was American Coryn Rivera who races for Team Sunweb from the Netherlands.

On Thursday and Friday, May 11 and 12, over 120 of the world's elite cyclists will descend upon Lake Tahoe for Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women’s Race empowered with SRAM. The race presenter AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, created routes that will challenge these top female cyclists. They will vie for the coveted jersey during the four-day race. After Lake Tahoe they head to Elk Grove on May 13, and the finale in Sacramento on MMay 14.

After 782 miles and eight days of racing, 23 year-old Julian Alaphilippe (FRA) of Etixx – Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team clinched the 2016 Amgen Tour of California championship, becoming the youngest rider to hold that title in the race’s 11 years. A father and his five children were rescued by the California Highway Patrol after becoming stranded in a wooded and snowy area of El Dorado County for hours, according to officers.

The family of six went on an off-road excursion about 8 a.m. in the Ice House Reservoir area, but realized they were lost soon after.

The Elk Grove father named Ed called the CHP about 2:30 p.m. and told them that his pickup truck had begun sliding toward a cliff, and that he had been holding the brake pedal with both feet for some time to prevent it from going over the edge, the CHP said.

Vincent J. Doyle, former CFO of Morton & Pitalo, was sentenced on Wednesday by United States District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller to 51 months in prison for mail fraud arising out of his embezzlement from his former employer of more than $2.5 million. Doyle was also ordered to pay over $2.5 million in restitution.

A vehicle registered to an Elk Grove man who was reported missing in May was located Friday, along with human remains, down a steep embankment off Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe.
Sgt. Dan Paxton of the California Highway Patrol said the vehicle, a 2001 Honda Civic, was spotted near Johnson Pass Road about 2 p.m by a person walking a dog in an area above the crash site. He said the vehicle was about 100 feet down an embankment on the south side of Highway 50.
