Pilot Hero 'Sully' Sullenberger to Discuss Thunderbird Preservation; tickets now available

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who calmly and heroically landed his jetliner on New York’s Hudson River saving all 155 passengers and crew on board, will speak in Incline Village at a benefit for the Thunderbird Preservation Society on Saturday, Sept. 3.
The man who redefined “hero” on January 15, 2009, will discuss the importance of core values, including the preservation of vintage Americana – specifically Lake Tahoe’s historic Thunderbird Lodge and Yacht.

The 22nd annual Lake in the Sky Air Show, considered the biggest and best air show in the high Sierra is on Saturday, Aug. 27 beginning at 8 a.m. and runs throughout the day.
You won’t want to miss the spectacular opening ceremonies Warbird ‘fly bys!’ And then get up close to several vintage Warbirds and military static display aircraft, including the Air Forces C-17 Globemaster, and the #1 rated fighter plane of WWII - the legendary P-51 Mustang. The Re-Ride of the Pony Express Trail from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, will pass through Stateline and South Lake Tahoe in front of Harrah’s at Friday’s Station to exchange the Mochila on Friday, August 26th at 11:30am. The annual re-ride is a 10-day, 24-hour a day, non-stop event by over 500 riders and horses.
