Moose Lodge hosts free fishing derby for kids on South Shore Sunday

Always a fun event, the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge is hosting the 14th annual Kid’s Fishing Derby on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Tahoe Paradise’s Lake Baron. The Derby is FREE to all children under the age of 16.
Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at Lake Baron, near the main entrance. Hot dogs, chips, sodas, and water are provided FREE to all registered children. The event wraps up at 1:00 p.m.

Nevada State Parks offer free admission to all 23 parks on Saturday

In the Lake Tahoe area, Sand Harbor, Spooner Backcountry, Cave Rock and Van Sickle Bi-state park are all part of the Nevada State park system. Free Kids Fishing Day in South Lake Tahoe Saturday

The annual Dale Sare Memorial Optimist Club Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sawmill Pond in South Lake Tahoe. Fishing is free to all children up to age 14. In addition, the Optimist Club will be hosting a free raffle to give children and opportunity to win prizes.
Fishing tackle and bait will be provided for anyone who does not have their own.
Volunteers will be on hand to clean fish that are caught that day. The pond is at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road in El Dorado County.
Free Fishing Days in South Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Trout Farm is offering free fishing for kids 16 and under for two weekends - October 11, 12, 18 and 19. From 10 am to 6 pm each day, kids can catch 2 fish a piece. Owner Jim Vallier, who bought the Trout Farm last year, says he has hundreds of fish left and wanted to share the enjoyment of fishing with the kids. He is holding these Customer Appreciation Days as a wrap up of his first season in business.
Those fishing will need to bring their own bait and tackle. There is staff available to help.

On Sept. 7 you will be able to fish wherever you like without the need for a fishing license. However remember that you will need to abide by the rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing.
Be sure to obey those rules and regulations, and don’t do something illegal. If you do, and if you get caught, it could be a very expensive experience.

June 8 is Nevada’s Free Fishing Day for the year 2013. On that day, you can fish anywhere you want, and not need a Nevada fishing license or a Nevada Trout Stamp or a Nevada Second Rod Stamp.

With Christmas two weeks away, one of the best stocking stuffers for local anglers is a California fishing license. If you're planning to fish in the State of California in 2012, you'll need a new license as of Jan. 1.
You can purchase that license and any applicable stamp at a number of local outlets or on the Internet.
