Free virtual workshops on growing vegetables in Lake Tahoe

Get prepared for the upcoming gardening season by participating in upcoming virtual Grow Your Own High Elevation Gardening workshops hosted by UC Davis TERC, UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe, and Slow Food Lake Tahoe.

The five free workshops will get you excited and ready to prepare for growing. They are all held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the dates below:

Tahoe Writers Works hosts this writing workshop every other Tuesday, 6:00 pm, at Keynote Used Records & Books. This workshop is free and open to all writers, or those interested in the craft of writing. For more information, visit tahoewritersworks.com.

El Dorado County Employment Resource Center reopens in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After closing in May 2019 for much-needed repairs, the El Dorado County Employment Resource Center n South Lake Tahoe has reopened to the public.

Repairs completed include carpet replacement, minor mold remediation and painting.

The Employment Resource Center provides free job assistance services to El Dorado County residents who are looking for jobs or want to improve their job readiness skills. There is no income requirement to use the Center.

The Employment Resource Center provides the following services for members of the public at no charge:

Master Gardener's workshops on growing food in Lake Tahoe

Learn how to grow vegetables in your Lake Tahoe garden this summer through a series of free workshops presented by the UCCE Master Gardeners. The classes are offered at both ends of the lake on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during May. This year's classes are potatoes, onions, raspberries, lettuce & kale, and tomatoes.

Each week will be a new theme. The workshops are all family friendly and attendees get to go home with plants for your home garden!

Classes will run from May 14 - June 14th, 2018 in the evenings.

Ever consider growing fruits and vegetables in your garden here in Tahoe? Join UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe this May for free workshops to learn how food can be grown at the Lake. Participants receive instruction on cultivation techniques, and history/background on the plants being highlighted. Everyone will leave with free plants for their gardens. These are family friendly workshops, with hands-on opportunities to get acquainted with growing vegetables.
