Advocates from Stateline Fight to Keep Lake Vista Apartments as Affordable Housing

Lake Vista Apartments is a 4.6 acre, 64-unit deed restricted affordable housing project on lower Kingsbury Grade in Stateline, Nevada. It was built in 2000 under a special agreement with the TRPA to replenish the Nevada side's affordable housing stock after the number of units at the complex on Kahle Drive was dramatically reduced in order to restore the meadow. The complex was built on a USDA affordable housing tax credit program which specified a minimum of 15 years of affordable housing use.

Tahoe Expo 2013: Geotourism and Sustainability
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 09/09/2013 - 11:58amJack Durst of Fabulous Lake Tahoe brought out his camera and interviewing skills to the third annual Tahoe Expo geotourism event this weekend at Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe. The event is designed for Lake Tahoe to show its environmentally-friendly side by promoting healthy, fun activities such as biking, hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking and more.
The event featured Stand Up Paddle Yoga, an electric bike tour, information on preserving Tahoe's water quality, and a demonstration of Native American music and culture from the Washoe tribe.

Vice President Al Gore challenged Lake Tahoe, Carson City, dignitaries, guests and residents, that there should not only be a continued annual Tahoe Summit but a global summit formed. And, that every resident should take on a demonstrative example to the world in having Lake Tahoe as an example regarding the greater issues of global warming.

Fourteen arrests during Stateline Lake Tahoe New Year's festivities
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 01/01/2013 - 12:33pmThe Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the New Years Eve celebration in the casino core area of Stateline, Lake Tahoe went as planned with 14 arrests made.
The celebratory crowd seemed no larger than in past years. Highway 50 was closed to vehicle traffic at about 11:00 p.m. for public safety reasons. The celebrants were allowed to flow into the roadway as they celebrated the coming of the New Year. The Nevada side of U.S. Highway 50 was cleared of celebrants at 12:20 am and was reopened to vehicle traffic at approximately 1 a.m. after the crowd peacefully moved off the roadway.

The event took place over Thanksgiving weekend with multiple businesses along Highway 50 participating by decorating their store fronts and turning on their lights as the South Lake Tahoe Fire Departments fire truck and Streets Department snow plow led the procession from Stateline to the “Y.”

Lakeview Commons Celebrated for Summer Paddle Sports

World's Longest Bicycle Parade at Lake Tahoe

In honor of National Bike to Work Day the Slow Rollers organization have, unofficially, and more than likely made the Guinness Book Of World Records for holding the world's longest bicycle parade. There were 1,188 registered participants in the Spirit Bike Parade, and quite a few more in the actual parade itself. Click below to watch the video prepared by Fabulous Lake Tahoe's Jack Durst.
