Barton doctor honored as Hometown Hero; flies in F-16 at Minden airshow

On Thursday, October 5, the Minden Airshow and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds recognized the orthopedic surgeon and veteran as a “Hometown Hero.” As part of the honoring, Dr. Swanson was rewarded with a practice ride in an F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Join Kyle Swanson, MD, of the Tahoe Center for Orthopedics, and learn more about shoulder replacement surgery; the good, the bad and the ugly during Barton Health's next wellness lecture on Thursday, December 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College.
The lecture will cover several topics including:
What is arthritis?
Types of shoulder replacements
What to expect as a patient going through shoulder replacement surgery
This lecture will be held in the LTCC Board room located at One College Drive in South Lake Tahoe.
Dr. Kyle Swanson to be honored during Minden Airshow
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/14/2015 - 4:41pmMilitary veterans of all ages will be honored at the 5th Annual Aviation Roundup, August 22 and 23, 2015 at Minden-Tahoe Airport. Among those veterans being recognized is Dr. Kyle Swanson, an orthopedic surgeon with Tahoe Orthopedics & Sport Medicine in Carson City and Lake Tahoe. The Army veteran served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan where he performed surgeries on soldiers and Afghan civilians injured during the conflict of war.

November 5, 2014 - 6:00pm Come learn about a variety of shoulder issues, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, and shoulder replacement. Shoulder exercises and treatments will also be addressed.
This Barton Wellness Lecture is called Orthopedic Injury Prevention and will be hld November 5 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in Minden, NV.
Kyle Swanson, MD, Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will be presenting along with Monique Havilund, PT, MSPT, Bodywise Physical Therapy and Gary Standifer, PT, MS, Bodywise Physical Therapy.

In a 2012 study, the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) estimated that physician recruitment costs between $75,000 and $90,000 per doctor. This does not include the time and effort to set up a medical practice and then to retain a physician.

Orthopedic physicians and the athletic training staff from Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are working to combat the impact of concussions affecting young athletes in the region through a computerized test called ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment Testing).
