Judi McCallum leaves her El Dorado County post to pursue passions

For the past 26 years, Judi McCallum has been keeping the El Dorado County Supervisors from Lake Tahoe organized, on schedule, and connected to those they serve.

Details of two more major Caltrans projects unveiled during public meeting

Two hot topics for locals were discussed during a Caltrans informational meeting at the Lake Tahoe Airport on Thursday evening: A roundabout and viaduct replacement.

The 3-legged Roundabout

Citing the safety of the intersection of Highway 50 and 89 in Meyers as the catalyst, project managers, engineers and planners unveiled their plans for a three-legged roundabout at the intersection to the dozens of interested citizens who attended.

Meyers Area Plan meeting both disappoints and educates

If the long line at the entrance to the cafeteria at Lake Tahoe Environmental Magnet School on Wednesday evening was any indication, the Meyers Area Plan (MAP) meeting was going to be another contentious event.

The meeting was one of several that has been hosted by El Dorado County concerning the future plan for the community of Meyers. As one can imagine, there is not a single plan that all who live there can agree upon.

Movie Review: 'Star Wars' rages again in 3D With 'The Phantom Menace'

I was busy some other place when "Star Wars, The Phantom Menace" opened in 1999. Lucky me. Not so lucky now when I went to see the reworked original decked out in 3D. The film is now playing at the Horizon Stadium Cinema at Stateline, Lake Tahoe. And for all those Star Wars fans, and they know who they are, you won't want to miss it; though you can see the release without 3D and you won't be missing much.
