November 30, 2016 - 7:00pm Join Lake of the Sky Outfitters for their monthly movie night on November 30 at 7:00 p.m. for Sherpa, an absorbing and powerful documentary about the hazardous lives of the Sherpas on Mt. Everest. This film chronicles the events leading up to the massive avalanche which killed 16 Sherpas on Everest in 2014, the aftermath, and the impact it had on the Sherpas and the guided climbing companies that employ them.
Admission is free.

Lake Tahoe hikers in Nepal reportedly safe after 7.8 earthquake
Submitted by paula on Sun, 04/26/2015 - 6:07pmAdrian Ballinger, a veteran high-altitude mountain guide from the Lake Tahoe-area with six Mt. Everest summits on his resume, was on the mountain when the deadly earthquake struck Nepal, killing thousands and causing havoc on the mountain.
Mel Kaida, 30, assistant operations director with Incline Village-based Tusker Trail Adventures, was also in the region and is reported to be safe, according to Andrew Springsteel, operations director for Tusker.

February 28, 2014 - 7:00pm Lake of the Sky Outfitters will be showing the film "Storm over Everest" on Friday February 28th at 7:00pm. This gripping story is about the 1996 tragedy on Mt. Everest which was originally chronicled in the book "Into Thin Air". Produced by American climber and film maker David Breashears who was on the mountain as the events unfolded on that fateful night and participated in the rescue attempts. He takes us back to the mountain and also interviews survivors of the event.

January 18, 2013 - 7:00pm Join Lake of the Sky Outfitters for the showing of the movie "The Wildest Dream". This film is about the ill fated 1924 climb of Mt Everest by George Mallory and the mystery surrounding his disappearance on the mountain. Mountaineer Conrad Anker attempts to determine if Mallory could have reached the summit by retracing the same route while using period gear and clothing. Even if you are not a climber you will enjoy this exciting and entertaining movie.
