Free Student Sports Physicals
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 06/04/2012 - 1:08amTahoe Center for Orthopedics, Barton Health and Lake Tahoe Unified School District have joined together to offer FREE student sports physicals to South Tahoe and Whittell High School and Pop Warner athletes playing fall, winter and spring sports. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at South Tahoe High School, 1735 Lake Tahoe Blvd. This one-time, annual-event is available on a walk-in basis. Which is better: Hot tub or ice bath?

What sounds better after a long powder day: icing your knees or hopping in the hot tub? The majority of skiers and snowboarders would prefer the hot tub. And though this sounds like the perfect place to get warm, meet up with your buds and kick back and relax, the hot water could hinder your next day’s skiing or boarding performance.

Barton continues Home Health and Hospice services at Lake Tahoe

Earlier this year, Barton closed their Carson City and Carson Valley operations of Home Health & Hospice. Barton Health has provided home health and hospice services to the Carson Valley and its surrounding areas since 1987, but with declining reimbursements and increasing regulations on home health and hospice services it has become cost-prohibitive to cover such a large area.

Orthopedic physicians and the athletic training staff from Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are working to combat the impact of concussions affecting young athletes in the region through a computerized test called ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment Testing).

When you pull into the Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine office parking lot on Third Street, the giant sign just off the road tells you that you've come to the right place for any of your orthopedic treatments. But also on it is two logos, the same that grace the business cards of four doctors inside the offices. They are for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams, to which several members of the orthopedics office contribute.
