Liberty Utilities awards scholarships to students in their communities

Liberty Utilities has awarded scholarhips to students living within their service territory for the past six years. Awardees attend one of six high schools and one community college students.

The sixth annual group of awardees:

South Tahoe High School – David Holmes
Loyalton High School – Cassandra Garcia
Coleville High School – Crystal Lowe-Rasmussen
North Tahoe High School – Ryland Lubin
Portola High School – Eric Jacobsen
Truckee High School – Megan Burrill
Lake Tahoe Community College – Justin Pease

STHS tackle Logan Langemeier headed to Jacksonville University

South Tahoe High offensive tackle Logan Langemeier will be wearing the green and white of the Jacksonville University Dolphins football team this fall.

During an official signing ceremony at the school Wednesday, the 6'4" 240 pound senior credited his mom and his training for getting him to this point.

A football player since the age of eight, Logan said he tried soccer but fell in love with football through Pop Warner.

Whittell senior wins Gene Upshaw Memorial Scholarhip

Whittell High School senior Daria Sharon was announced as the recipient for the seventh annual Gene Upshaw Scholarship Award at this year’s American Century Championship.

Her academic achievements and dedication to sports and community service made her the premier candidate to earn this scholarship, valued at $5,000.
