Thousands in South Lake Tahoe and Stateline for New Year's Eve celebrations
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/02/2020 - 3:53pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The ringing in of the new year was celebrated several different ways across the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
At Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe, a season-long celebration concluded with a New Year's Eve celebration attended by an estimated 6,500 people. The festivities included a 9:00 p.m. fireworks show on the gondola, concerts and special activities all day long.
SOS launches programs at Heavenly with 75 local youth
Submitted by paula on Sun, 12/06/2015 - 1:26pmSOS Outreach, a non-profit serving South Lake Tahoe youth, launched their winter mountain program at Heavenly Ski Resort this weekend. Vail Resorts and Heavenly donate instructors, gear and access to the mountain. For their first day on the mountain Saturday, SOS had 75 at risk and underserved youth for day one of a five day Learn to ski/snowboard Program.
SOS uses core values and positive adults while teaching youth to ski or snowboard.
Each day of activities staff and youth participate in has a focus, and this first day on the slopes was "courage".

Heavenly opens new terrain for holiday weekend

Heavenly receives 11" to 14" of snow; California Base to open
Submitted by paula on Wed, 12/31/2014 - 12:03amHeavenly Mountain Resort received 11-14” of new snow in the last 24 hours, allowing the resort to expand terrain and open the California side of the mountain on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31.
Heavenly will now offer three access points to the mountain, including the Heavenly Gondola at Heavenly Village, Stagecoach Lodge in Nevada, and California Lodge off of Ski Run Blvd. With the extra two mountain access points now open, the heavy crowds that have been at the Gondola all week should dissipate.
Heavenly opens Cal to Nevada crossover trail

The crossover trial is now open. That in conjunction with the predicted natural sow heading our way is indeed good news. Like many I've been waiting to ski Heavenly until the crossover trial opened. Now I'm off to the slopes.
