Series of storms lined up to bring snow to Lake Tahoe and Sierra

A series of weather systems are due to arrive later this week that could bring significant snow amounts to Lake Tahoe area ski resorts and surrounding Sierra.
The weather changes are due to arrive beginning Wednesday with a quick-moving storm expected to bring a few inches of snow to the region, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

December 8, 2012 - 5:00pm “Christmas in the Sierra Concert, featuring David John and the Comstock Cowboys, returns to the historic Genoa Town Hall. This musical stage performance is in the old west style that truly warms the heart with the magic of the season. There are two performances, 5 pm and 8 pm. Reserved seating only. Tickets are $20 for concert only. A No host bar will be in the Town Hall. Each ticket holder receives 10% off of dinner purchased at Genoa restaurants including Tombstone Tap & Grill, Genoa Station Bar and Grill, and Walley’s 1862 Restaurant located at the 1862 David Walley’s Resort.

Chili cook-off, contests, games and local businesses featured at South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival

Costume contests, games, local business booths and a Tahoe-style chili cook-off are on tap Saturday, Oct. 27 with the South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival.
Who makes the best chili in town? Taste, pick and vote for your favorite at the festival, a great way for locals to come together before winter begins. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.
Music at The Moose Outdoor Concert with Trey Stone Band to Benefit Tahoe Arts Project

When the South Lake Tahoe arts community calls out, Trey Stone and his band are there to headline the show. The community is invited to join the Trey Stone Band for three hours of R&B, funk and soul at an outdoor concert — Music at the Moose — to benefit the Tahoe Arts Project at 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 25, at the Moose Lodge, 961 Eloise Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.
The cost is $10 for adults and free for children. Dished up for purchase at this community benefit concert include burgers and hot dogs, soda, ice cream, and more. There's a cash bar available and a raffle will be held. All proceeds benefit the Tahoe Arts Project.

Tahoe Arts Project will hold a spaghetti night fundraiser at Bert’s Cafe on Thursday, May 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
For only $10 guests will enjoy spaghetti, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Wine will be served by donation in a TAP logo wine glass for you to keep. Save room for dessert because there will also be a bake sale. Board members and volunteers of Tahoe Arts Project will be your servers for the evening. Erin is Lake Tahoe News’ Random Acts of Kindness winner. The thoughtfulness toward her boss was returned by Erin being nominated in the monthlong RAOK promotion.

Musical '42nd Street' to Take Stage at Lake Tahoe's Newest Stage

Viking Road is soon to become the way to 42nd Street with the first student performance to take the stage at the new Viking Theatre at South Tahoe High School’s Tahoe Arts and Design Academy.
For those who want to experience the big bold musical production of 42nd Street, the curtain rises Friday, December 9, Saturday, December 10, and Saturday, December 17 at 7pm; and on Sunday, December 11 and 18 at 2pm. Tickets are on sale at South Tahoe High School’s Associated Student Body office at $5 for Students; $10 for age 65+; $15 for General Admission.

South Lake Tahoe city budget fight looms large; layoffs eminent

Seventeen positions are still on the chopping block. At least half of those positions are linked to street maintenance and snow removal operations. While negotiations between the bargaining units and the city continue to be held, there is a hint of an impasse — while the city functions on only an interim budget until the end of the month.
