SLT Cancer League hosts Fall Festival Saturday

The South Lake Tahoe Cancer League is holding its inaugural Fall Festival fundraiser on Saturday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion.

Admission is free.

There will be vendors on hand to help you start your holiday shopping or complete fll decorating needs. Some of those with their displays include Sierra Paradise Gardens, Senegence Beauty, artist Jannette Hamman, Tupperware, and Color Street.

All proceeds from booth rental fees go directly to the SLT Cancer League.

The American Legion Post 795 is located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

Just in time for spring sprucing: The Lake Tahoe Home & Garden Show

The annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held on Friday, April 26, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 27, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The show will be staged in the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose Room. Use the Al Tahoe Boulevard entrance between the bus garage and track.

Admission to this show is FREE, and free door prize drawings will be held every twenty minutes with prizes going to show attendees.

Josh Kornbeck Named Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe

Selected among several local outstanding youth Josh Kornbeck will compete against other Boys & Girls Club members for the California Youth of the Year title and a $1,000 college scholarship from Tupperware Brands Corporation. As the new Youth of the Year for Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, 16-year old Josh is a true example of an extraordinary young man recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.

Home-Based Businesses License Fee Approved By Nevada Legislative Panel

CARSON CITY – A regulation requiring thousands of home-based businesses to pay a $200 annual fee won approval today from a legislative panel.
Secretary of State Ross Miller has been trying to get the regulation approved for several months, but has seen the regulation stymied by strong opposition from some Nevada residents and Republican lawmakers who argued the regulation exceeded his authority.
