Public workshops being held for Douglas County Master Plan update

Douglas County is kicking off the process to update the Master Plan Text and is calling on residents to help shape the future of their community. A webpage has been constructed to provide the public with additional information regarding the update and public outreach has begun.
Jamie Anderson wins overall 2016 freestyle snowboarding title
Submitted by paula on Sun, 03/20/2016 - 8:14pmThe final snowboard FIS World Cup slopestyle event took place Sunday in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic, and Jamie Anderson from Meyers won the crystal globe award for women’s snowboard slopestyle despite skipping the final event of the season. Anderson also claimed the crystal globe for overall freestyle snowboarding.
On the men's side, Chris Corning (Arvada, CO) hit the podium with a second-place finish, and secured the overall World Cup Slopestyle title.
Jamie Anderson wins Big Air Snowboarding title in China
Submitted by paula on Sun, 03/13/2016 - 12:14pmSouth Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson won the big air title Sunday at the TTR Pro Snowboarding/WSF World Snowboard Federation’s World Championships of Snowboarding in Yabuli.
Anderson, who is fresh off a win at the Burton US Open in slopestyle, won the world title with a pair of 720s (Cab and frontside) in the two-run format.

Kyle Mack (West Bloomfield, MI) scored his first major slopestyle win and fellow Michigander Eric Beauchemin (Grand Blanc, MI) finished right behind him in second. On the women’s side Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) took home her third-consecutive US Open title and Karly Shorr (Milford, MI) took second.

Three Olympic athletes from the inaugural USA slopestyle snowboarding team will arrive in South Lake Tahoe this spring to compete in Heavenly Mountain Resort’s signature event, High Roller Hold ‘Em, on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Olympic Gold Medalist Sage Kotsenburg will place his bets against fellow Olympians Billy Morgan and Chas Guldemond, as well as High Roller Hold ‘Em veterans Gjermund Braaten and Eric Willett.

Submitted by Editor on Wed, 09/12/2012 - 10:18amAs tree-felling operations under the South Shore Fuels Reduction and Healthy Forest Restoration project move to new areas, the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit reminds the public to stay clear of active operations. “Heavy equipment operators can’t easily see people walking or biking through their operations, so if you’re disregarding posted signs and forest closures, you’re putting your safety at risk,” said LTBMU forester Duncan Leao. “Respecting closures will help us open recreation areas back up more quickly by minimizing interruptions to tree thinning operations.”
