SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) and other emergency personnel responded to the area of Eagle Falls at Emerald Bay on April 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a climbing accident.
EDSO deputies were the first on scene and located a male juvenile about 400 yards from the trailhead.
The juvenile was suffering from traumatic injuries sustained in a fall while rock climbing. Despite lifesaving efforts by deputies and medical personnel on scene, the juvenile unfortunately succumbed to the injuries.
