On the question of whether the Homewood Mountain Ski Area Resort, a ski area on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore, can be revitalized, the U.S. District Court validated all of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s environmental findings in the decision on the Sierra Club’s lawsuit challenging the project. The court remanded the case back to TRPA on one very limited issue concerning the adequacy of the economic analysis related to one of the alternatives studied, TRPA officials said.

Much colder weather to return to Lake Tahoe and Sierra this week

A few more layers may be required this week as the weather around Lake Tahoe is expected to turn cold and windy. Low pressure and a cold front will be moving into the Sierra and Lake Tahoe Basin by late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Ahead of the cold front, windy conditions are expected Wednesday with gusts 40-50 mph expected in eastern California and western Nevada mainly north of Highway 50. Ridge gusts of 80 to 90 mph are possible along the ridges.

Washoe County authorities are asking for the public's help in solving a Jan. 2 armed robbery at a north shore Lake Tahoe gas station in which a gun shot was fired. No one was injured.

A masked gunman entered the Incline Village Chevron gas station at 8:45 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk and then discharged a silver-colored long barrel revolver inside the store, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Special Operations and Investigations Division. The clerk was not injured and no other patrons were in the store.
