Open house to share plans for reshaping the heart of South Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif - The City of South Lake Tahoe, in collaboration with a local planning team, is creating an area plan that fosters a more defined sense of place in central South Lake Tahoe. This includes re-evaluating and updating things such as pedestrian and bike routes, density and dimensional standards, design standards, and where and what recreational amenities may be developed in the future.

The public is invited to an opportunity to learn more about the plan and share your ideas about improvements for the Mid-Town area.

Living History at Boathouse Theater – Lake Tahoe’s enigmatic Elias “Lucky” Baldwin and his daughter Anita

Enjoy a Chautauqua performance of Lucky Baldwin and his daughter Anita - An Unconventional Success by Gayle & David Woodruff on September 25 at the Boathouse Theater at Valhalla Tahoe. Lucky was “one of the greatest pioneers” of California business. Earning a fortune in speculating on mining stocks of the Great Comstock Lode, Baldwin owned over 8,000 acres at Lake Tahoe, including some of the Lake’s only remaining old-growth forest (now the Tallac Historic Site as well as Fallen Leaf Lake).

Enjoy virtual underwater journey of Emerald Bay

Join California State Parks on September 26 at 1 p.m. for a virtual live dive at Emerald Bay State Park. Go into the Emerald Forest dive site, the result of a dramatic landslide in 1955. The effect of the slide can be seen as massive tree trunks rise from the depths, creating a stunning underwater forest.

Special Housing Community office hours at Sidellis

The public is invited to stop by, get answers to housing-related questions, learn about available resources, and engage with city staff on local housing policies.

This will be taking place at Sidellis, 3350 Sandy Way, South Lake Tahoe.

Tahoe Arts Project offers free performance of Cascada De Flores

27th Annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day

Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited to this fun, hands-on restoration event. By pitching in, you will help improve the ecosystem functions and wildlife habitats that surround Lake Tahoe. Healthy streams, meadows and wetlands act as natural pollution filters to Keep Tahoe Blue. Volunteers do not need previous experience to participate in the projects. Help us heal the land to Keep Tahoe Blue.

Public is invited to “heal the land” at Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day Saturday

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - This Saturday morning, volunteers will lace up their boots, pull on their gloves, and help preserve Lake Tahoe with a few hours of intensely gratifying, land-healing work. Participants can choose from a range of hands-on projects taking place at Rabe Meadow in Stateline, Nev.

Firefest

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join Lake Tahoe Basin agencies for the annual Firefest on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Tahoe Middle School.

There will be a burn house sprinkler demo, appearances by Smokey Bear, Sparky the Dog, vehicle extraction, ember house toss, bounce house, helicopter flyovers, and more.

South Tahoe Middle School is located at 2940 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe.

Inaugural Tahoe Bear Fest at Spooner Lake State Park

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The Tahoe Interagency Bear Team (TIBT) and Nevada Division of State Parks have announced the first-ever Tahoe Bear Fest at Spooner Lake State Park on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This bear-focused, family-friendly event is designed to educate and engage the public on living and recreating responsibly in bear country.
