Western Days in South Lake Tahoe the kickoff to 75th annual Wagon Train

June 1, 2024 - 10:00am

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join the Lake Tahoe Historical Society for the 3rd annual Western Days on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum complex. Entry and activities are free.

There will be free tours of the museum, the 1930s log cabin, a peek into the 1860s Toll House, children's hands-on activities, horse-drawn carriage rides, craft vendors, music by the Cash Only Band and Whiskey Wolves, and western entertainment and storytelling by David and Gayle Woodruff.

Cyclists return to Lake Tahoe for America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride in support of blood cancer patients

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) annual America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe returns on June 2, 2024. A winner in 2024 USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Road Cycling Event, the ride offers a unique experience to help drive its lifesaving mission.

Cyclists from across the country will be taking part to help change the lives of blood cancer patients. Monies raised during the event help fund groundbreaking research, provide free patient support and assistance, and advocate on behalf of blood cancer patients and their families.

8th annual OMG Fun Run

June 2, 2024 - 10:00am

MEYERS, Calif. - For a few hours, leopards, butterflies, world-class athletes, and Tahoe-style entertainment will take over the Old Meyers Grade for the 8th annual OMG Fun Run. Registration is now open for the OMG (Old Meyers Grade) run on Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The City of South Lake Tahoe seeks input on the Lake Tahoe Airport Master Plan

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA, May 15, 2024 – The City is seeking input from the community on updating the Lake Tahoe Airport (TVL) 20-Year Master Plan. There are three ways to provide feedback about future improvements of airport facilities and infrastructure, via a survey, through the comment portal at www.cityofslt.us/AirportMasterPlan, and at the in-person open house. The Lake Tahoe Airport Master Plan Survey is open through Friday, June 21.

13th Annual Bike Path Cleanup

June 4, 2024 - 5:00pm

Join us June 4th at 5:30 for the 13th Annual Bike Path Cleanup. Volunteers can meet at one of three locations throughout South Tahoe to pick up litter from the areas around our bike paths. Following the cleanup, we will all meet at The Hangar for post-event fun, food, and happy hour drinks.

Public invited to "Understanding Teen Substance Use and Tools to Support Their Recovery"

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Learn about teen substance abuse, how to support your teen in recovery, and other important tools as the Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids (TASK) hosts a guest speaker on Wednesday, June 5 from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the South Tahoe High School Student Union

Tahoe Forest Health's Jonathan Lowe, PMH-APRN, will be giving a presentation on "Understanding Teen Substance Use and Tools to Support their Recovery."

Forest Health Community Working Group holding speaker event on Tamarack Fire

ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - The public is invited to the Forest Health Community
Working Group presentation on the Tamarack Fire - Fuel treatment effectiveness, early data on regeneration and Recovery, and future monitoring plans. This will be held on June 5 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Turtle Rock Park Community Center, 17300 State Route 89, Markleeville, Calif.

Join the group and Ali Paulson, PhD, as she shares recent data collected from
the Tamarack Fire burn scar and how it will inform future monitoring. Paulson is the forest ecologist with Humboldt-Toiyable National Forest.

Learn how to identify Tahoe’s various native and invasive aquatic plants, and how to report observations that allow the League and our partners to control new populations of aquatic invaders before they do lasting damage to Lake Tahoe. We want to be sure that Lake Tahoe remains clear and blue!

Aging and Caregiver miniseries in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The County of El DoradoArea Agency on Aging Family Caregiver Support Program is offering another of its popular aging and caregiver miniseries. Learn about how to prevent scams, legal rights, and resources for caregivers.

All events take place at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center. 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 13, 20, and 27.
