Tahoe History Talks at Camp Richardson Hotel: The Thunderbird Lodge

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is presenting another of their Tahoe History Talks on Tuesday, October 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the historic Camp Richardson Hotel.

The topic this week is the history of the Thunderbird Lodge. Kirsten Duane, a long-time local and docent at the historic George Whittell, Jr. home will lead the event with stories about the grounds and the colorful former owner. Kirsten will focus on the building of "The Castle in the Sky," the use of Indian School labor, the Thunderbird Yacht, his pet lion and much more!

Mid-Town Area Plan Open House

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe, in collaboration with a local planning team, is creating an area plan that fosters a more defined sense of place in central South Lake Tahoe. Through outreach efforts this summer and fall, including stakeholder meetings, open houses, and public hearings, community members have shared with staff a clear vision of what this area should become.

LTUSD Performing Arts present A Veterans Musical Tribute

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District Performing Arts Department will be presenting "A Veterans Musical Tribute" on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The free event will take place in the South Tahoe Middle School multi-purpose room.

This concert is a wonderful tribute to the men and women who have served or are currently serving our country in the various branches of the military. All veterans and their families are invited to attend the concert to honor and thank them for their brave and selfless duty.

Learn tips and tricks of college applications at high school senior tutorial

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Learning Haven is holding a free college application tutorial for South Tahoe High and Whittel High seniors on Wednesday, November 13 from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.

This FREE forum is for any high school senior who is working on a college application and would like some free help. Ms. Ivento and a mass of volunteers will be there to help guide students through the application process; give tips and tricks, and answer questions!

Yes, the characters from the long-running Guilty Pleasures are back in a winter show with newly updated sketches and songs in a fast-paced comic musical written specifically for the Tahoe audience, both local and visitor alike. Time has gone by since the group had served their community service together but all the characters remain. Older, (though perhaps not wiser), they are ready to get together again, and this time they are doing a Christmas show.

Marcella Foundation launches FeedTahoe app to fight hunger and reduce waste in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Marcella Foundation proudly announces the launch of FeedTahoe, an innovative food recovery initiative that rescues quality surplus food from local businesses and delivers it to nonprofits like Christmas Cheer, Family Resource Center, Phoenix Food Pantry, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, Bread & Broth, and other charities serving the community. This program helps local nonprofits meet the rising demand for food support in South Lake Tahoe while diverting food from landfills.

Public invited to Unsung Hero awards at Lake Tahoe Community College

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe, along with co-sponsor the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, will honor four community members on Thursday, November 14, at 6 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre.

The four people have been chosen as Unsung Heroes:

Kathi Jensen - nominated by Jude Wood
Rick Chilcott - nominated by Bob Harms
Ken Curtzweiler - nominated by Gary Casteel, Drew Murin, and David Borges

Valhalla Tahoe's Holiday Faire brings holiday spirit to South Lake Tahoe

The Valhalla Grand Hall will transform into a winter wonderland, filled with unique holiday gifts, seasonal treats, and live entertainment.

Faire Hours:

Friday, November 15: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, November 16: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, November 17: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
