Multi-faith clergy to hold candlelight vigil in Reno to pray for peace in Eastern Europe

Christian-Muslim-Hindu-Buddhist-Jewish-Baha’i-Pagan religious leaders of northwestern Nevada will unite in a candlelight vigil and pray together in Reno on March 6 at 4:00 p.m., seeking peaceful resolution of violent armed conflict in Eastern Europe.

Being jointly coordinated by Saint Catherine of Siena Episcopal Church Rector the Reverend Thomas W. Blake and Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, this candlelight vigil will include prayers from diverse religious traditions in English, Spanish, Arabic, Sanskrit, Pali, Hebrew and Persian for peace and ending of war in Eastern Europe.

City Council candidate Keith Roberts holding meet-and-greet

Meet Keith and learn what he stands for, "common sense over nonsense."

Affordable housing workshop in South Lake Tahoe open to the community

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) at their upcoming affordable housing community workshop on Monday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Bijou Community School Multi-purpose Room. Learn about a new project that aims to tackle the housing crisis in Lake Tahoe while protecting and improving the environment.

American Legion Post 795 hosts 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Stella Van Dyke Johnson American Legion Post 795 of South Lake Tahoe is inviting the Lake Tahoe community and visitors to join members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion for a ceremony to remember the victims of September 11, 2001. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 11, 2024, at the American Legion Hall, 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Live music will be provided by local favorite, Cash Only Band’s Davin Kangas with soloist, Jill Sharlow. Light refreshments by Tacos Por Favor Catering will be served.

Talk Saves Lives: A brief introduction to suicide prevention

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is hosting a presentation on September 12, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cowork Tahoe.

This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and those in our community safe.

Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan updates at upcoming workshop

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — El Dorado County will host a virtual workshop for the Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan (TED Area Plan) to share the review progress made to date, summarize community input from the previous online survey and community workshops held in June 2024, and provide a preview of next steps in the process. The workshop will be held September 12 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

It's OK to Feel the Blues fundraiser in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is holding a fundraiser at CoWork Tahoe on Thursday, September 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Join them for "It's OK to Feel the Blues' which will feature live music by Blue Funk, Blue Dog Pizza, Italian Sodas, and Blue Sweets. The suggested donation so $20 for adults and $5 for kids.
